I’ve been involved in some level of competitive sports and fitness since I was in elementary school.  I ran track and cross country throughout Jr. High and high school, and prior to that I also played co-ed soccer for seven years.  After graduating from high school I ran track for Bellevue Community College for one season before shifting my focus to fitness.  I started working in fitness clubs in 1995 and earned my personal training certification with ACE in 1997.  I graduated from Bellevue Community College in 1998 with my AA degree and went to work for Bally Total Fitness that summer.  Shortly thereafter I earned my group fitness instructor training and certification with ACE.   In 2003 I earned my HFI certification with ACSM and two years later in the summer of 2005 I earned my NSCA certification as a Certified Personal Trainer.   

I left Bally Total Fitness in the fall of 2001 when I had a baby and went back to work full time in 2002 personal training and teaching classes at Monroe Fitness until I opened my own personal training studio, Health Happenings, in November of 2005.

Of course this is the short and sweet version of my career in fitness.  Since I first started personal training and teaching classes I have continually strived to expand my knowledge, skills and the ability to share everything that I’ve learned with my clients and members.  My certification as Pilates Mat Instructor with the Physicalmind Institute has raised my awareness and taught me the importance of body analysis as well as provided me with a new set of tools to help more people than ever before.

I truly love fitness and the personal reward of helping people feel better by teaching them how to reach their goals.
